We now have two full size Prunty Pitches that should ensure the future of Gaelic football in Corduff for generations to come. Lighting around the training pitch is in place and the foundation of the running track has been laid.

The extended terracing means we can now cater for up to 4,000 spectators and we look forward to hosting some major fixtures in the not too distant future.

Friday 27th June 2008

Under 14: Our Under 14 team took centre stage last weekend when they took on Killanny in the Division 2 semi final last Saturday. Corduff’s side already missing some star players was dealt a major blow in the 4th minute when Hugh Larkin had to be carried off injured. Killanny started well and had a considerable lead at half time. Corduff played well in the second half limiting Killanny to a single point. But the home teams lead was decisive and they came out victorious. Reaching the semi final was a great achievement and credit to this young team all there training and commitment was plain to been seen throughout the league, who would have believed last February when they started training that they would reach the semi final as they were up against older, stronger and bigger teams and a lot of the Corduff team can play at this level for a few more years. A big thank you has to go to the management team of Pat Kelly, Donal Crosson and Pat Keenan who trained and prepared these boys for every game. Also thank you to the Carrick Court hotel that sponsored a new set of jerseys for this team.

Under 14 review:  This young team started their campaign away to Sean Mc Dermotts on Saturday 22nd March. We started slow in this game and it was only in the second half that the loyal supporters were giving an indication of the teams capabilities. We were narrowly defeated by Sean Mc Dermotts. On Tuesday 8th April we entertained Clones at home. Corduff played to the end and with a great team performance we game out victorious.  On Saturday 19th we made the long journey to take on Truagh. This was a tough and bruising game played in terrible conditions and the home team came out victorious.  On Saturday 3rd May we played Rockcorry at home we were trailing with 10 minutes left but the teams never say die attitude was rewarded with two goals within the last 10 minute snatching a victory. On Friday 23rd May we made the short journey to Inniskeen. The home side had the best of the play in the opening quarter but then Corduff started to play like a team and they dominated the remainder of the game.  On Saturday 31st we played Killanny at home. This was the tightest game of the season. Again the visitors had the better start but again Corduff’s young guns came into form at the right time. Corduff brilliant defensive work held Killanny to a single point in the second half and the scoring power of Corduff gave them a deserved victory. The last game of the season was against Magheracloone and a semi final spot was up for grabs for the winners. After trailing by 1-07 to 0-03 in the opening stages, the dedicated supporters were shown a fine display of football and our side came out deserved winner booking their place in the semi finals.
