Friday 21st November 2008 Intermediate Football League: We played Ballybay Last Sunday in the Semi Final of the League, Corduff put in a brilliant performance in the first half the highlight coming after a great ball from David Marron to Lee Mc Ardle resulted in Martin Mills winning a penalty and scored. Corduff were unlucky not to go further ahead before half time. Corduff started well in the second half registering the first point; this was before Ballybay went on to score 7 unanswered points. The home side came out winners on a score line Corduff 1-06 Ballybay 0-12. See intermediate round up next week. Thank You: To the senior Management of Peter, Ciaran, Brendan and Aine for all their work throughout the year. Juvenile Round up: Our Juvenile season is now over after the Minor game last Saturday. This was a fantastic year for the club with brilliant displays from Under 8 to minor. Our under 8 and 10 teams played in different tournament throughout the year. Our under 12 team reached the final, the Under 13 and Under 14 teams made the semi final and the under 16 team reached both the semi final of the league and division 2 championship. Our minor team finished the campaign last Saturday in the semi final of their league. These are great achievements for a small club and this is down to the hard work and commitment of the people behind the scenes, mentors and players. On behalf of the supporters I would like to thank them for some brilliant games throughout the year. Minor: Last Saturday our minor team’s long awaited Semi Final took place in Killanny. We dominated the first half with great teamwork and determination, but we didn’t get our just rewards, in the second half we tried hard but our young team could not match Killanny, and the home team ran out winners. It was a great achievement for this young team to reach the semi final, as many of their important players were injured throughout the year. The Corduff panel was small so this caused a major problem. With the brilliant guidance of Paddy Mc Enaney, Gerry Murphy, Lorcan Woods, Frank Mc Enaney and Jody Clarke the team was training hard and showed great termination and team spirit in all their performances since last March. The commitment and dedication of the team and management could not be questioned as they trained from last March and going weeks without games under the superb training of Jody Clarke. Minor Semi Final: The league campaign started 8 months ago, when we played Killanny at home in our first league game, the visitors came out winners, the team responded well and drew with Currin on the 8th April. This was a great all round team performance. In the next game a stronger Oram side beat us. Next team we played was Eire Og the team showed character by giving their loyal supporters a brilliant display against a strong Eire Og side. Corduff was ahead throughout the game building up a good lead and showing off some of their scoring abilities. The team’s great performances kept coming ensuring a play off position for a semi final spot. Thank You: The Corduff club would like to thank the management and players of the minor team. The commitment of Paddy, Gerry, Lorcan, Frank, Jody and not forgetting Mary Woods taking care of our entire physio needs ensured that their loyal supporters always had an enjoyable game. Good luck: To the Carrickmacross Senior team against Castleblaney this weekend in the Senior League Final. Good Luck: To the Senior Ladies team and Management this weekend in the replay.
