Friday 18th of September 2009 A Night at the Dogs: All roads leads to Dundalk tomorrow night for the eagerly awaited Corduff Gaels night at the dogs. All tickets should be returned at this stage but any outstanding please return to a committee member before tomorrow Friday at 4pm, to ensure the names are included for the draw for Two All Ireland Football Tickets. All support is needed as we try and make this a success for our ClubAuction: An auction will also take place on Friday night, items up for Auction include Two All Ireland Football tickets, Two tickets to a premiership game and two tickets to the crucial Ireland V Italy world Cup qualifying match at Croke Park. Free Bus: The bus travelling to the Dogs will be leaving Corduff Centre at 6.45, and Carrick at 7pm Intermediate Football League: We played Aghabog at home last Sunday in brilliant conditions. Corduff had better of a start registering 1-08 in the first half compared with Aghabog’s 1-02. Corduff’s goal coming from the boot of Mickey Mc Dermott. Aghabog had the lead reduced by the score reduced to three points by the 19th minute with a score line of Corduff 2-09 Aghabog 1-09. A Keith Mc Enaney point extended Corduff’s lead to four points in the 31st minute, But Aghabog responded with 1-1 in two minutes, To leave the final score Corduff 2-10 Aghabog 2-10. Minor Football Championship Final: A date has been fixed for the Minor Championship final, it now takes place on Sunday October 4th in Drumhowan at 1.45. This will act as a curtain raiser to the Junior Football Championship Final. Minor League Final DVD: A DVD of the trilling minor final is available from Benny Mc Nally on 0876426224. This is a must have, so everyone can experience the trilling game again, and is a treasured piece to have in the future. Upcoming Fixtures: This Saturday we are due to play Rockcorry at home please check official fixtures for time. Then on Saturday 26th we take on Tyholland away with a throw in of 5.30 Under 13: We travelled to Truagh last Saturday, despite a great spirited performance the home side came out victorious. The game is due to kick off at 5pm in Donaghmoyne. Best of luck girls.Seniors Championship - For the first time in the history of the Corduff ladies club, the senior team have beaten off some stiff competition to rightfully earn a place in the Ulster qualifiers. They are due to play the Cavan team on the 3rd of October at home. Competition for team places is intense as the ladies see the best turnouts for training in years. There is no doubt this team is well fired up for what lies ahead, so put the date in the calendar and show your support for the girls. Friday 11th of September Minor Football Championship Final: The Minor Championship final has been postponed from this Friday night. At time of going to press no date, time or venue is known, please check official fixtures. A Night at the Dogs: We are pleased to announce the return of the very popular and enjoyable Corduff Gaels “Night at the Dogs”. This night is not to be missed and takes place on Friday 18th of September in Dundalk Greyhound Stadium. For this night be a success we would call on all the players, parents, and the wider community to support this worthy cause as we continue to develop our magnificent facilities that are a credit to our club and community. There are many forms of sponsorship available. Sponsorship available For Business and Groups of individuals include sponsorship costing €1200. This will entitle the sponsor to have a race in their name on the night, 10 Corporate Seats for dinners in the Stadium restaurant as well as free admission to the stadium. We are also offering business the choice of joint sponsorship of a race on the night. Individuals can also avail of the Corporate Meal in the stadium restaurant, free admission and sponsorship of a greyhound on the night for €120. We are also offering an option for individuals who can sponsor a greyhound on the night, and gain free admission to the stadium for €20. All support is needed from the entire community as we try and raise these vital funds for our Club. All sponsors will also be entered into a draw on the night for two All Ireland Football Tickets. Corduff Ladies Notes: Congratulations: To the Ladies who had a great win over Scotstown in the championship final on Sunday. It was a great team performance under very bad weather conditions. Corduff lead by 1-3 to a point at half time, thanks to a brilliant goal by Colleen Callan. The second half proved more difficult as Corduff were playing against a very strong wind, however an excellent Laura McEneaney goal set Corduff on their way, and they held out to win by 2-4 to 0-6. Congratulations to all the girls and management team. The girls now play the Junior Championship winners from Cavan in the Ulster quarter final on the 3rd October in Corduff.
Thank you: To all the supporters who came to Aughnamullen to support the girls on such a miserable day. Also to Peter Brennan and Peter Byrne who videoed the game. Thanks to the committee who provided superb food for all the players, managers and supporters on the day. It was appreciated greatly by all involved.
