The extended terracing means we can now cater for up to 4,000 spectators and we look forward to hosting some major fixtures in the not too distant future.

Reserve Football League Final: Last Saturday All roads lead to Drumhowan where our reserve football team took on Sean Mc Dermotts in the Final of the Mc Keown Cup. This game played in wet conditions was a close and exciting encounter with the teams being level five times. Corduff rallied hard in the opening minutes and were first on the scoreboard after a free from Keith Mc Enaney, Sean Mc Dermotts applied pressure and responded with two points in quick concession in the 7th and 9th minute, leaving the score line Corduff 0-01 Sean Mc Dermotts 0-02 this advantage to Seans could have been more only for some brilliant defending from Paddy Mc Mahon, Chistopher Mc Enaney and Ciaran Malone in Corduff’s backs. A free from Brendan Mc Nally in the tenth minute had the sides level again before Sean Mc Dermotts went on to register two unanswered points in the 11th and 12th minutes. With some good midfield work from Cathal Connolly and Lee Mc Gardle the sides were level again in the 18th minute after points from Keith Mc Enaney and Aidan Marron in the 16th and 18th minutes. The teams exchanged points in the closing stages of the half with Corduff’s scorers being Lee Mc Gardle and a Keith Mc Enaney free. The sides were level at half time on a score line of Corduff 0-06 Sean Mc Dermotts 0-06. The second half started slowly But Corduff could of found themselves behind only for the brilliant work of Pauric Connolly, Alan Mee and Shane Mc Nally. Like the first half Corduff opened the scoring after some hard work By Pauric Gollogly and Niall Reilly, Brendan Mc Nally converted a free in the 9th minute. The next ten minutes were nail biting with Corduff hitting the post on three occasions and Corduff Goalie Peter Mc Garell having to make some great saves. The sides were level again in the 19th minute when Sean Mc Dermotts converted a free. With some great forward work Corduff went on to score three unanswered points in the 20th, 21th and 25th minute the latter point coming from the foot of Ben Woods. This gave Corduff a 3 point lead, during injury time the two teams exchanged points but Corduff held on and secured the Mc Keown Cup on a score line Corduff0-11 Sean Mc Dermotts 0-09

Congratulations: To Donaghmoyne Ladies who booked their place in the All Ireland Final last weekend.

Corduff Ladies Notes

All Ireland Semi-Finals: Our Ladies team travelled to Cork last weekend to play Clonakilty on their home ground. The journey to Cork and the travel the previous weekend to London left the girls at a disadvantage when they came up against the very strong Cork side, and it was just not to be on the day. The Ladies team have made history for the club and now have a county and Ulster Championship cup to show for it. Well done and congratulations to the team, management and committee who have all invested so much into this seasons football in Corduff.

Supporters:  As per usual travelling support was fantastic last weekend. A huge thank you to all who have supported the team on their epic journey.

Sponsors: Without question this journey would not have been possible without the generosity shown by local businesses and families.  Thank you to all of those who kindly sponsored our club, and made it possible to travel to London and Cork. We would ask the team and the community to remember that when you support local businesses you support your local club.

Intermediate League Final:  We still have one final game left to play, none less than the League final. Details of time and venue unavailable at time of print, contact a team or committee member for details, your support is needed this one last time.

This game was played in very wet conditions but despite this Corduff started well with some great teamwork resulting in great scores from all angles, Corduff’s defence were brilliant holding Ballybay scoreless in the first half. Ballybay responded in the second half but Corduff continued to press on and deservedly booked their place in the final. Final Score Corduff 0-09 Ballybay 0-06

Congratulations: To the Corduff ladies team who defeated Kingdom Kerry Gaels in London last weekend, in the quarter final of the all Ireland.

Corduff Ladies

All-Ireland Quarter-Finals: Once again the Corduff Ladies have made history for the club. They travelled to London at the weekend to take on the Kingdom Kerry Gaels on their home ground. Get the full match report and update on the teams progress in the Carrick news.

All-Ireland Junior Club Championship Semi-Finals: Will take place between Sligo and Wexford, and Monaghan and Cork this coming weekend. Corduff will travel to Clonakilty to take on their Cork opponents in what promises to be yet another exciting match in Corduff's championship campaign of 2009. The team are set to travel on Friday afternoon, with a through-in time of 1pm Saturday afternoon, 7th November. Support to date has been brilliant, adding that extra boost to team morale. But yet again we need as much support as possible for this weekends match. The girls represent their club, their families and community each time they play, and we need your support. Anyone interested in travelling arrangements for supporters please contact Bernie Byrne 9669733.

Sponsorship: A huge thank you to all who have very generously sponsored the Corduff Ladies in their 2009 championship campaign. Much of the funds collected over the last week were necessary to ensure the team got to London for the quarter-finals, and without such kind sponsorship, the team would undoubtedly have been unable to travel. Yet again we must travel a considerable journey, and so we would kindly ask anyone wishing to make a contribution, to contact a committee member - all support is most greatly appreciated.

Intermediate Football League: Last Sunday defeat confirmed our regulation to Junior Football next year. This was maybe the best team performance all year with great displays from Keith Mc Enaney, Shane Mc Nally Jnr and George Mc Kitterick. Final Score Corduff 0-09 Donaghmoyne 0-11.

Reserve Football League: What a comeback, with five minutes gone in the second half we were losing by 6 points, but then Corduff came to their own in the last 15 minutes, with some brilliant scores and defending to ensure that we booked our place in the next round of the Crawley cup. This team deserves great credit after the disappointment of Sunday they rallied together to pull off this great victory. Final Score Corduff 0-10 Scotstown 0-11
