M ay 16th 2008Fixtures; Tomorrow night Friday we play Eire Og in the Intermediate League at 7.30 in Corduff. On Sunday we play Clontibret at 7pm Check with management as time may change. Please come out and give the boys a bit of support. What a game: We played Truagh in the Intermediate Football Championship last Sunday in very warm conditions in Cremartin. Truagh raised the white flag 4 times before Corduff registered their first point coming from a Mark Gilsenan free in the 15th minute. Lee Mc Gardle leveled the score when he rattled the back of the net in the 25th minute. This coming from a ball won in mid field by George Mc Kitterick and some hard work from Mark Gilsenan and Raymond Byrne who layed it off to Lee Mc Gardle. Corduff added 2 points before half time both coming from frees with Mark Gilsenan and Raymond Byrne in the 26th and 30th minute. Truagh pulled back a point before half time. Half time score Corduff 1-03 Truagh 0-05. Corduff lead was back to within a single point before a free won by Martin Mills and Raymond Byrne point extended Corduff ’s lead. Corduff lead was kept in tacked with some brilliant defending from our full back line especially Gerry Mee who was outstanding and he was helped by Louis King and Ciaran Brennan . Martin Mills added another 2 points in the 16th and 20th minute leaving Corduff with a 2 point advantage with 10 minutes left. Truagh went a point ahead in the 23rd minute .Mark Gilsenan converted another point from a free won by Declan Larkin. Declan Larkin was brought down in the box and Martin Mills hit the back of the net with the resulting penalty in the 27th minute, George Mc Kitterick ended the scoring with a point in the 31st minute. Subs used: George Mc Kitterick and Shane Mc Nally Jnr. DVD; In conjunction with our 40th celebration we have released a DVD to commemorate our achievements over the past 40 years. Filled with interviews and video footage of all the good old times. At a cost of €20 our DVD is sure to raise a smile as the memories flood back. Reserve Football League: Last Monday night we drew with Scotstown in Corduff. We were winning by 3 points at half time with the score line Corduff 1-03 Scotstown 0-03. Corduff’s goal coming from Shane Connolly. Corduff were slow off the mark in the second half, with 30 minutes gone we were trailing by 3 points before Cathal Connolly fisted the ball into the back of the Corduff net. Corduff 2-06 Scotstown 0-12. Support Needed: Our senior team is top of the league, Our reserve team is coming to the end of their season, why not come out and support them, they have served up some trilling and exciting encounters with some great victories and displays, it would be a great way to spend a afternoon or evening. Under 16: We had a great win last Thursday night against Sean Mc Dermotts. Tonight Thursday we play Latton away throw in 7pm. Under 14: This Saturday we play Inniskeen at home throw in 4pm. Congratulations: to the High School 1st year Team who has reached the Ulster Final after brilliant performance on Monday last in Carrickmore Co. Tyrone. Corduff has three players on the panel Fergal Daly, Niall Hand and Padraic Keenan. Jerseys: Another call to all players to have a look in the usual spots under the beds, boots of cars and kit bags for all jerseys .At the moment a whole set of under 8 and 10 jerseys are missing. If anyone knows the where about of these please contact a committee member ASAP as these jerseys are needed. Help Needed: Any one wishing to sell lotto's please contact a
committee member, as the lotto is the club's major source of income for
the day to day running of the club all help is needed. Corduff Ladies Notes Barbecue - The date has been set for the 14th June, and tickets will go on sale very soon. We urge you to keep this date free, as it is sure to be a great night. Affiliations- are now overdue. It is essential that all members pay in full before they train or play, as otherwise they are not insured. The fee is payable to Ann Brennan and is €28.50 for juveniles and €38.50 for seniors. Jerseys Missing- anyone who has a team jersey is asked to return it to management as soon as possible. There are two yet to be located. Bag Packing- will take place on the weekend of 30th and 31st of May, and the rota is now in circulation. Everyone should nominate a time slot suitable to them; otherwise one shall be allocated instead. Contact Claire McKenna for further details of remaining slots. Injuries- All claims must be dealt with immediately after the initial injury to ensure compensation. Results- Congrats to U16 who beat Killanny on Thursday night last in the league. Fixtures & Training Tiny Tots - U6, U8, and U10: Training 7:15pm Monday. Anyone interested in helping out, come along. U12 - Training Saturday’s at 10.15am, except this Saturday 17th May, since it has been cancelled. There is potentially a great team here, with plenty people falling into this age group in the locality. Minors - are continuing to train with the senior team, and watch this space for upcoming fixtures. Seniors - next league game is fixed for tomorrow (Friday) in Inniskeen, all players to arrive at 6.30pm, for game at 7.45pm. Training Tuesdays and Fridays 6:45pm otherwise.
